I apologize for not updating the blog on a more regular basis. Now that the season is in full swing, there is no excuse!

For some reason, the varsity results from last Wednesday’s meet are not available on athletic.net.  Hopefully they will be soon.

Also, it would be great if a parent or runner could take some pictures that could be posted on this site.  E-mail pictures to me and I’ll post them.

KINGCO PREVIEW MEET TOMORROW AT LINCOLN PARK

The 2009 KingCo Preview XC meet will be held tomorrow afternoon beginning at 4:00pm at Lincoln Park, West Seattle. No details about start times for the various boys’ and girls’ races. Schools attending the meet will be:

Updated Practice Schedule

On Thursday, August 13th & 20th, we’ll meet in the weight room at Roosevelt at 11 AM, instead of our running workout at Cowen.

Official League Practice begins Monday, August 24th. We meet at the Roosevelt track from 4:30 – 6 PM.

Wed, Sept 9th, first day of school, practice at 2:30-4:30.
Thursday, Sept 10th, Kingco Preview Meet, Lincoln Park.

Summer 2009 Conditioning Runs

Girl’s Cross Country….ready to run!
Summer workouts meet daily, Monday – Friday, at 8:30 – 9:30 AM, beginning June 29th. We meet at the park bench in Cowen Park, south of Roosevelt HS on Brooklyn Ave.

Forms are due in the main office by August 20th. Official league practices begin Monday, August 24th on the Roosevelt track.

Season Draws to End

Yesterday, the RHS girls’ varsity completed their season at the District 2/4 Championships at Lincoln Park and did not advance to the State meet in Pasco. Last week they took the last qualifying spot (6th) to advance to the District Championships for the second year in a row. Heroic finishes under slick conditions were turned in by many girls who saw their times drop on the same course from the previous week.

Congratulations to the team and all of the girls for a great season!  With all of the returning talent, there is a lot to look forward to.

Today’s race times and the coming weeks . . .

This afternoon Roosevelt hosts Garfield and Ballard at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. The meet starts at 4:00pm. There will be a girls race and a boys race–2 total.

Next Thursday, Oct. 23, the girls will run in the 4A KingCo Championships held at Lincoln Park.  There will be separate JV and Varsity races.  The time schedule is as follows:

2:15                  Coaches Meeting at Finish Area
2:30                  JV Girls’ Race
3:15                  Varsity Boys’ Race
3:45                  Varsity Girls’ Race
4:15                  JV Boys’ Race
4:45                  Awards Presentation at Finish Area

The top seven VARSITY teams and the top 35 individuals qualify for the District Championship Meet on Saturday, November 1st, at Lincoln Park.  (The next three meets are ALL at Lincoln Park.)  The JV runners will complete their season at KingCo on the 23rd.

For those who qualify from the district meet (top 4 teams and the top 20 individuals), they will run in the State Championships on Saturday, November 8, in Pasco.

The Varsity Girls had a very successful day yesterday at Lakewood High School’s Hole in the Wall Invitational and placed third among the 22 schools that participated.

Today’s Race Times

There will be 4 separate races today at Beaver Lake.  The Girl’s JV race is scheduled to start at 4:15 today.  The remaining races will take place when the previous race is finished.  I have no idea  about the order of the races.

Tomahawk Twilight Meet AND Silver Lake Invitational Results

The results for Saturday, Sep 28th Tomahawk Twilight Meet (Marysville) and the Silver Lake Invitational results are available at the links below. The Varsity girls’ team finished 13 out of 31 teams in Marysville and 6th place in Maple Falls.
